Sashiko Needle Set - Tribe Castlemaine

Sashiko Needle Sets

$10.00

Genuine sashiko needles, made in Japan, designed for slow stitch, boro and straight-line sashiko stitching.

Sashiko is a traditional Japanese embroidery style dating back to the Edo period (1615–1868). Used by working class farming and fishing families to make stronger more practical workwear, a worn-out piece was stitched with layers of old cloth, producing a sturdy garment passed down through generations. Sashiko translates to English as little stabs, a reference to the simple running stitch used.

Long, rigid, and very sharp, sashiko needles are designed to let you load multiple stitches on the needle before pulling it through the fabric.

Made from stainless steel, with threader included, two styles to choose from:

Standard - set of 4 different sizes

  • 0.84mm ~ 51.5mm
  • 0.99mm ~ 44.5mm
  • 0.84mm ~ 41.3mm

Long Type - set of 3 different sizes

  • 0.97 x 66.7mm
